Acupressure

The Eastern art of acupressure evolved from acupuncture, an ancient art estimated to be about 6,000 to 12,000 years old. It is one of the oldest and yet most commonly used medical procedures in the world. It is based on the core principle that there is energy called Chi or Qi flowing through one's body and mind along pathways called Meridians.

When one's body is in balance, one is healthy. The overall well being requires that the individual's energy and spirit to flow freely throughout the body and mind. Theoretically, the blockage of Chi or Qi at any point may result in an illness. In order to restore health, traditional Eastern practitioners insert thin needles into the skin along the meridians to unblock the energy flow by stimulating the nervous system.

Acupressure is based on the same theory with the exception that no needles are used, only focused pressure is applied. Eastern medical practitioners have mapped the human body with specific acupuncture points, many of which lie along and near the spine. There are 365 acupuncture points comprising the 12 primary Meridian pathways, crucial for the well being of one's health. Nuga Best adopts the effect of acupuncture without the discomfort of inserting needles into the skin. Instead, pressure is applied, along with a combination far-infrared light and heat therapy, which function in similar ways but have proven to have much more effective results than by acupuncture or acupressure alone.

Acupressure can help with the following:

Relieves stress and tension.
Relaxes the mind and body.
Increases blood oxygenation and circulation. Aids in the removal of toxic wastes.
Provides relief from head, neck and shoulder aches.
Stimulates speedy healing of injuries.
Increases energy levels. Increases overall feeling of psychological and physical well-being.
Decreases labour pains.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion, besides acupuncture, is another important form of treatment in oriental medicine. As a well-known therapy within oriental medicine, moxibustion's purpose is to restore the circulation of energy and / or blood in the body. Traditionally performed by the burning of special herbs (mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris) at certain acupuncture points and thus helps to re-energise the body.

These burnings can be done in different ways. One of the ways is to place loose moxa herb in a moxabox and ignite it where the heat generated from the burning moxa is transferred to the large surface area of the box and onto the body. The best way to use moxa is by burning it directly of the needle itself. The pressed moxa herb is put on the shaft of the inserted needle and ignited. The heat is transferred in a different way to the moxabox: rather than transferring via the outer-layer of skin, the heat is transferred in a narrow channel through the needle and direct to the inner layers giving a very pleasant and effective method.

The Nuga Best's product components such as the jade ball and tourmanium ceramic implement the concept of moxibustion far infra-red heat transfer to stimulate the blood circulation and qi flow.

Massage

Massage therapy is widely known and go well beyond just a simple enjoyment. Usage of a personal massage bed at a comfort of your own home has become more popular among various age groups these days. Once thought to be the domain of the old and infirm, personal massage beds present a set of certain qualities, which draw the attention of a large number of consumers around the world. Here are some facts about a personal massage bed that involves infrared heat.

Massage: what is it about?

Massage is a non-intrusive form of treatment which seemingly creates no harmful side effects. Improved circulation is a chief advantage of the personal tourmanium bed with massage. Circulation promotes the nerves and muscles and aids in the detoxification of each part of the body, counting the nerves, tendons, connective tissue, and muscles. Excellent blood flow transports not just oxygen, but in addition, such matter as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, glucose, and antioxidants. Muscles are stimulated through a technique in the body which turns sugars, fats, and proteins into energy. Repeated use of massage beds will heighten and maintain great body regulation. Other benefits of massage include alleviation of muscle pain, improved metabolism and heightened immune system functioning. In ancient Oriental healing techniques, massage, sometimes combined with heat, plays an important role.

So why might it be necessary to get a massage bed in the first place?

Simply put, there are many people suffering from conditions that make it necessary to receive massage therapy of some sort. Other individuals are merely stressed from the toil of everyday life, and can use a great method of relaxation. Lower back pain is one common malady suffered by many people. Massage can serve as a therapeutic relief to sufferers. By receiving massage, circulation may also be improved. Arthritis is yet another challenge that can be tackled by equipment such as massage beds.

Why NUGA BEST massage?

At NUGA BEST Australia, we have personal massage equipment that can address different levels of massage. What are you waiting for?!

Infrared heat therapy steps up the detoxification that takes place in the body's cells.
Also, heat supplied from infrared sources goes far down into the soft tissue, connective tissue and muscles to that it can help the healing process.
Infrared therapy is largely known as an efficient therapy which is utilized by skilled and Olympic athletes.
Stress is a factor that's highly detrimental to the well-being of both the body and mind. The calming, warm sensation of heated personal tourmanium massage beds NM-5000Plus is a well-admired feature for millions of people due to how it rebalances a strained body.
This supports the hormones and autonomic nervous system and raises the ability of the body to cope with tension.
Because of its beneficial effect on the body's circulatory system, infrared therapy improves skin tone and texture.
Infrared heat is also believed to aid people with skin diseases, for example eczema and psoriasis. By releasing toxins stored inside the skin, infrared decreases cellulite.
Finally, the increased heat levels as a result of infrared therapy moves blood into the arms and legs which causes the heart to labour slightly more to deliver blood to these areas. Studies have shown that infrared saunas help with arteriosclerosis (a solidifying of the arteries).

What Are Far Infrared Rays

Far Infrared (FIR) rays are an invisible spectrum of sunlight discovered by a scientist named Sir William Herschel in 1800. His research led to the discovery that there were not only the known visible rays - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet plus the invisible rays, Gamma and Ultraviolet but also a previously unknown ray later named Infrared. FIR rays are present in the spectrum between visible light and microwaves. This invisible band of light is felt as heat. Approximately 80% of solar energy is made up of FIR and 60% is between the range of 10-20 microns. The human body generates FIR between 8-14 microns. When our bodies are heated by FIR rays the activity level of our atoms are increased and heat can be generated. Albert Szent-Gyorgi, Nobel Prize Winner and the discoverer of vitamin C, believed that all energy from the sun has profound effects on us. His research showed that light can literally alter the body’s basic biological functions.

How Far Infrared Works

Far Infrared Ray stimulates cellular metabolism which increases the body’s regenerative ability and helps restore the proper function of the nervous system. Far Infrared energy is absorbed very easily by the human body and helps in all aspects of bodily growth and development. The body has its own mechanism for producing FIR which stimulates healing and cellular repair. When the body is exposed to Far Infrared rays our healing processes are stimulated and our body’s own repair responses are activated restoring function and detoxifying.

Due to today’s high levels of stress and toxicity the body’s natural ability to heal, is often compromised. Some of us have reached critical stress and/or toxic levels and we do not have the energy to detoxify or repair our bodies. The internal production of Far Infrared energy that normally occurs within our tissues and is associated with a variety of healing responses will respond to the boost given by Far Infrared Rays. The Far Infrared Rays will be selectively absorbed by those tissues needing a boost in their output. So for healing and detoxification to occur successfully we often require a boost of Far Infrared energy to maximise healing responses. Thermal energy will rise, tissues will become more active and the pace of metabolism will increase. It is almost like re-charging the body’s battery.

The intensity of Far Infrared energy produced by the human body constantly fluctuates. When its intensity is high, we feel healthy and are able to overcome ailments. When the Far Infrared energy levels begin to decline, we are subject to attacks of illness and tend to age more quickly. Far Infrared Rays help to rid the body of chemicals and pollutants, rejuvenates the cells, tissues and organs of the body thus facilitating a return to health.

Health and medical professionals in Japan (and more recently in Canada) have been using far infrared thermal systems to rehabilitate and treat a multitude of ailments for the last 14 years.

Far Infrared Therapy and Healthy Arteries

When the normally smooth, firm lining of the arteries becomes thickened and roughened by deposits of fat, fibrin, calcium and cellular debris, it lessens the arteries ability to expand and contract, and slows the blood movement through narrowed channels. These conditions make it easier for blood clots to form, blocking the arteries and stopping blood flow completely. The Far infrared Rays can help to neutralize blood toxicity and smooth the walls of arteries, capillaries and veins.

Far Infrared Therapy and Electromagnetic Pollution

Recently there have been reports detailing the hazards of exposure to certain kinds of electromagnetic fields, such as those from high-tension power lines, cell phones, or from computer display terminals. Far Infrared heating systems have been tested in Japan and found free of toxic electromagnetic fields. The Swedish National Institute of Radiation Protection has also concluded that infrared heaters are not dangerous. Instead, they may help to alleviate the negative effects of electromagnetic radiation. Japanese researchers have reported that Far Infrared radiant heat antidotes the negative effects of toxic electromagnetic sources.

Nervous System

Your central nervous system is the centre, which controls and coordinates your body. Your spinal cord is located within the spinal canal. Your spinal cord extends throughout the whole length of the spine, and your nerves branch off from the spine to every muscle and organ of your body. Good health, in terms of your Chiropractor, is when your nervous system functions properly and is free from any interference caused by subluxations.

Neurones are the building blocks
The basic building block of the nervous system is a nerve cell, or neurone. Neurones are shaped differently depending on where they are in the body and what role they play. All neurones have finger-like projections called dendrites and a long fibre called an axon.
In many cases, the axon is coated by a specialised membrane called a myelin sheath. The axon feathers out and has a number of bumps on it. Each bump sits near to a dendrite from another neurone. The space between the bump and the dendrite is called a synapse. Messages jump the synapse from one neurone to the next, using special chemicals called neurotransmitters.
Central nervous system
The brain and the spinal cord make up the central nervous system. They are wrapped in a thin lining called meninges and bathed with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
The brain
The brain is the powerhouse of the body, even though it only makes up two per cent of the body’s weight. This soft, jelly-like organ has countless billions of neural cross-connections. The brain oversees the workings of the body, while its higher functions give us consciousness and personality.
The spinal cord
The spinal cord is connected to the brain and runs the length of the body. It is protected by the bones of the spine (vertebrae). Nerves branch off from the spinal cord into the arms, legs and torso.

The spinal cord is along tube like structure which extends from the brain. The spinal cord is composed of a series of 31 segments. A pair of spinal nerves comes out of each segment. The region of the spinal cord from which a pair of spinal nerves originates is called the spinal segment. Both motor and sensory nerves are located in the spinal cord.

The spinal cord is about 43 cm long in adult women and 45 cm long in adult men and weighs about 35-40 grams. It lies within the vertebral column, the collection of bones (back bone).

A disposition of the vetebral columns affect body organs

The peripheral nervous system
Nerves connect the brain and spinal cord to the peripheral nervous system, which is what nerve tissue outside of the central nervous system is called. It is made up of two main parts: the autonomic and the somatic nervous systems.
The autonomic nervous system
The autonomic nervous system is part of the peripheral nervous system. One of its main roles is to regulate glands and organs without any effort from our conscious minds.

The autonomic nervous system is made up of two parts: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. These systems act on the body in opposite ways. Together, they coordinate a multitude of adjustments required for our changing personal needs as we move through our environment. For example, the size of our pupils is adjusted automatically to allow the correct amount of light into our eyes for optimum vision, our sweat glands are turned on when we get too hot and our salivary glands produce saliva when we eat food (or even think about it!).

The somatic nervous system
The somatic nervous system is also a part of the peripheral nervous system. One of its roles is to relay information from the eyes, ears, skin and muscle to the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). It also obeys commands from the central nervous system and makes muscles contract or relax, allowing us to move.

Tourmanium ceramic

What is Tourmaline?
From all existing hard minerals on Earth is the only tourmaline, which holds a permanent electrical potential, also known as polar crystal; also known as piezo-electricity. Effect of tourmaline on the body include helping to rebuild the endocrine system and affect positively against diseases caused within the liver, autonomic nervous system, blood circulation and skin. Tourmaline support switching of oxygen in the blood, enhances the immune system, endocrine system and lymphatic system and assist the recovery from oncological diseases. Due to these characteristics, tourmaline has been nicknamed the "wonderful doctor" for its positive effect on health.
What is a germanium?
The most prominent property of Germanium is its electrical property as a semiconductor that lies between Metals and Non-Metals. Since this property leads to a principle of healing human illnesses, it is often called an 'Element of Miracle.' Germanium has four electrons in its atomic structure that combine easily with other ions in human body and actively move between electric currents. When Germanium comes into proximity with an abnormal element in a human body, one of the four electrons that is farthest from the Germanium atomic core pops out with negative polarity while the other three stay, to establish a balance with human body. This property of Germanium provides a therapeutic principle, which has been used over the centuries in the Oriental Medicine in the form of Acupuncture, Moxibustion, and Finger Pressuring that enhance flow of ions among cells.
What is a volcanic rock?
Volcanic rocks are in the form of very small crystalline structure and mineral particles because it is made from the swift cooling of magma. The characteristics, chemical ingredients and mineral formation of a volcanic rock are very diverse, thus there are many types of volcanic rocks. The Nuga Medical uses basic and non-harmful alkaloids and does not use volcanic rocks that contain acidity or alkaloids harmful to the body.
What are elvan rocks?
Named based on its looks, the elvan rock is listed on the botanical list is listed as "impressive" and "perfect," and is good for swelling and epidermic diseases as it contains no poisonous materials. It is also known to be effective for age prevention, antibiotics, relieves fatigue and cancer prevention.

Negative Ions

Negative and Positive Ions

You have certainly noticed that great sense of wellbeing when walking in a forest, by a lake or on the beach, near a waterfall or in fresh snow. This is due to the negative electric charge from the air called the anion. Anions promote the metabolism of cells and increase one's vitality, refreshes the blood, relieves fatigue, increases appetite and brings stability. Thus, it is even called the vitamin of oxygen. The standard distribution of anion per 1cc of air in forests, hot springs, waterfalls and the beach varies from 800 to 2000 atoms.

On the other hand, you most certainly have noticed how you felt tired and stressed in a confined environment, and even more so when there are too many people in sharing the same space.

Well, it's all related to the existence of negative or positive ions in the atmosphere.

What Are Negative Ions?
They are actually nothing special - just electrical charged particles (atoms or molecules), part of our body and all the surrounding environment.

Atoms and molecules become positively or negatively charged continuously, as part of the chemical reactions that keep us alive. Nothing wrong with this :) - the only thing that can bother us is when there are too many positively charged versus negatively charged particles.

A very relevant fact is that laboratory tests shown that in spaces with no negative ions different animals cannot survive for more than few days.
Unfortunately in our modern life, we are daily exposed to conditions producing positive ions, like:

Electromagnetic radiation from power lines and household wires
Electric heating and air conditioning devices
Cellular phones, computers, TV's, microwave ovens
Pollution from exhausts, smog, cigarette fumes
Radiation and harmful chemicals and toxins (also from synthetic fabrics materials used for house building or decor)
Closed air at home, office, cars or busses

Tiredness
Positive ions can damage our cells by changing the Acid-Alkaline balance in our body, and are believed to be the reason for the deterioration of our physical and emotional wellbeing heaving a role in the aging process.

No wonder people spending too much time indoors suffer from headaches, poor concentration, allergies, and depression.

Benefits Of Negative Ions

There are many health benefits of negative ions and they are related to breathing fresh, healthy air.

Researches done at the University of California, conducted by Dr. Albert P. Krueger, scientifically proved that a very small quantity of negative ions can kill airborne bacteria causing flu and respiratory infections.

Medical reports also show the relation between the negative ions and the decrease of the serotonin levels in the body, leading to a calming effect from fever, and asthma attacks and also reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Over time the beneficial effects of negative ions to our health have been demonstrated, and some of them are:

Help relaxation - studies have found that water vapours coming from sea waves or springs (especially hot springs) have an increased relaxing effect because of the beneficial negative ions generated on their surface.
Facilitate breathing and decrease asthma crisis, by increasing the lungs capacity.
Help in reducing the symptoms generated by cold and flu, like sinusitis, migraine and fever
Relief allergies
Enhance the immune system
Do you feel tired or depressed?

One of the benefits of negative ions is reducing the fatigue and depression symptom, while favouring concentration, positive thinking and help productivity at work.

Here are some tips:

Take frequent breaks outside and go for a weekend vacation
Walk in a park often and do some gardening work
Use Tourmanium ceramic as an negative ion generator in your office or home
Want to sleep well?

Another important health benefit of negative ions is favouring a good natural rest.

Well aerate your bedroom before going to bed, or sleep with some window open
Use Tourmanium mat as an negative ion generator in your office or home
Unplug all electric and electronic devises

The effects of anions on the activation of the human body. Blood purification effect
The healthy blood is a weak alkaloid. Positive ions turn the blood into sick alkaloids. Anions neutralize the acidic blood into a weak alkaloid. This prevents geriatric diseases, cancer, and many allergies.
Stabilizes the mind
Anions stimulate the parasympathetic nerves to calm the soul and the mind and activate the endorphin hormone, which amplifies happiness. The beta-endorphin within the brain is nicknamed 'the happiness hormone' and functions to stabilize the mind. Thus gives the power to drive out diseases.
Controlling the autonomic nervous system
One person out of three will break down from stress and that is the hard reality of today. People suffer from insomnia, headaches, feeling of cold, climacterics, shoulder aches, lumbago and many other illnesses. These illnesses are said to be caused by positive ions. There is a problem in the nervous system. Anions work to restore balance in the nervous system (The nervous system takes over the control of organs and tissues within someone's body and there is the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous systems.)
Strengthens the immune system
The intestines and the liver are at the center of immunity. Modern men have weak intestines and liver. You can carry on a healthy life if you strengthen your intestines and liver. Change your life by making your intestines and your liver happy.
Strengthening your lungs
Many people are affected by colds or pneumonia these days. This can be explained by the presence of large amounts of positive ions in the lungs. This is often derived from the polluted air. The anions induce the discharge of carbon dioxide and increase the transfer of oxygen. You can recover from colds and pneumonia when your oxygen transfer increases.
Pain alleviation
On the cold and rainy days of low pressure, many people with arthritis complain of chronic rheumatic pain to the fingers, back, knees. This also can be explained from the air full of positive ions and with the introduction of negative ions to the body, the ions balance out inside your body easing the pain.
Activation of cells
The inside and outsides of a cell are full of ions, where positive ones are based around the outside and the anions on the inside. Both the positive and negative ions participate in the metabolism process. During this process, the positive ions replace the anions when a cell transfers from the suspension state to activation state. We call this state the depolarization and the anions lead this process. Thus meaning, the process of cell activation is carried out by anions.

TENS: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation

What is TENS?

TENS is a non-invasive, low-risk nerve stimulation intended to reduce pain, both acute and chronic. An adequate intensity of stimulation is necessary to achieve pain relief with TENS. An analysis of treatment fidelity (meaning that the delivery of TENS in a trial was in accordance with current clinical advice, such as using "a strong but comfortable sensation" and suitable, frequent treatment durations) showed that higher fidelity trials tended to have a positive outcome.

Electrical stimulation for pain control was used in ancient Rome, 63 A.D. It was reported by Scribonius Largus that pain was relieved by standing on an electrical fish at the seashore. In the 16th through the 18th century various electrostatic devices were used for headache and other pains. Benjamin Franklin was a proponent of this method for pain relief. In the nineteenth century a device called the electreat, along with numerous other devices were used for pain control and cancer cures.

TENS delivers a light current through the electrodes to the skin and tissues just beneath it. There will be a tingling or buzzing feeling on your skin where the electrodes are placed. TENS are thought to affect the way pain signals are sent to the brain. Pain signals reach the brain via nerves and the spinal cord. If pain signals can be blocked by the tiny electrical shocks from the TENS machine, then the brain will receive fewer signals from the source of the pain.
